Where is Linwood, Renfrewshire, Scotland?

Linwood is a small town in Renfrewshire, 23 kilometres (14 miles) west of Glasgow. Near the A737 road and Black Cart Water, it is located about 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometres) outside of Johnstone and to the west of Paisley.

The establishment of cotton and flax mills in the 18th century is responsible for the small town’s existence. From 1961 on, the growth and economy of Linwood were heavily reliant on the automobile industry. The Hillman Imp in particular helped to make Linwood famous. Production of this ground-breaking compact car began here in 1963.

Life in Linwood

In recent years, Linwood has undergone a significant transformation. Residents can v isit the On-X Sports and Leisure Centre for some fun, or take the kids to the Big Adventure Soft Play, or see a movie at the cineam, or indulge in some retail therapy at the local shopping centres.

McGill’s Bus Services, which offers a number of services linking the town to Houston, Paisley, Houston, Bridge of Weir, and other nearby towns, as well as Braehead and Glasgow, provides local transportation.

The nearby Johnstone railway station provides access to rail transportation. This route offers services eastward to Paisley, Hillington, Cardonald, and Glasgow Central and westward to Ayr, Troon, Stranraer, Irvine, Kilwinning, Largs, Ardrossan, and Lochwinnoch.
